The sitting is to take place on September 6, 2017 whereby, according to the House rules, the swearing-in of members and election of the speaker will take place.

“In the exercise of powers conferred upon me, I appoint that the first sitting of the second assembly of Nairobi shall be held at the assembly’s chamber, City Hall building, Nairobi,” he was quoted by The Star.

This comes after the Clerk to the County Assembly Jacob Ngwele made a request to the governor to gazette a date following the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s official listing of elected MCAs.

“Whenever a new county assembly is elected, the governor, by notice in the gazette , shall appoint the date and place of the first sitting of the new county assembly.”
