Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has launched a charm offensive to woo the Rift Valley vote block in readiness for his 2022 presidential bid.
The governor who toured Baringo County and attended the home coming ceremony for Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie received a warm reception and was even endorsed by a section of Rift Valley MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
Addressing the public at the event, Bureti MP Japheth Mutai threw his weight behind the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader, terming him fit for the job.
"It is too early and difficult to predict the outcome in 2022 but Mutua is fit and capable," Mutai said.
Mutua divulged that he is already in talks with Rift Valley leaders to form an alliance to clinch the seat in 2022.
"I want to make known that in 2022 I will meet all the others on the ballot. We are in discussions with Gideon and can confidently say mbele Iko sawa". Mutua divulged.
The event was attended by a host of Rift Valley MPs including Antony Chepkut (Keiyo South), Moses Lesonet (Eldama Ravin), William Kamket (Tiaty), Joshua Kutuny (Cherengany), William Cheptumo (Baringo north), Philip Chepkut (Anabkoi) and Daniel Tuitoek (Mogotio) among others.
