Moving on from a relationship can be hard.
Sometimes you think you have moved on but deep down you know you haven’t – though you’d never admit it.
You want to be in a relationship but can’t bring yourself to even try and even when you do date, your intentions are never 100 percent because you’re still holding on to the past.
Here are five signs that the past is holding you back.
1.You aren’t open to being in a new relationship
It’s okay to take a break after getting out of a relationship but the break doesn’t have to be forever. Take however much time you need but don’t drag your sadness out. If you’ve taken some time off dating and finally find someone that you would like to date then just go on the date. It’s one step closer to moving on.
2.You still blame yourself for your past mistakes
Maybe you were the cause of your break up. Instead of trying to forgive yourself, you keep blaming yourself for what you should have done differently. Stop the pity party and forgive yourself already. Mistakes happen all the time.
3.You keep referencing your ex in your current conversations
Even when you’re trying not to, you just find yourself blurting out how your ex was the funniest person you ever met. This is while you’re on a date with a potential suitor.
4.You are dating with a vendetta
Your intentions of getting into a new relationship aren’t completely 100 percent. You may be going on that date to make your ex jealous or to show them that you’ve moved on.
5.You get very excited when you learn any news about your ex
Like really excited. Even if someone saw them passing by their building one day, at least you got to hear about them. Yeah. You need a better distraction because what you’ve been doing is clearly not working.
