The second year Education student identified as Austin Rotich, was hit on Wednesday night by a matatu belonging to Royal Rift Sacco and died on the spot.

Police have urged motorists to exercise caution when approaching Laikipia University’s campus which is located at Mbaruk area, 20 Kilometres from Nakuru Town.

Anti-riot police have been sent to the area to contain the situation.

The protesting students has caused a major traffic snarl-up on the busy Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
