The Kenya Red Cross reported they had dispatched their emergency response teams to the scene.

According to witnesses, the building had just one floor and had been marked for demolition.

Six people who were injured at the collapsed building were rushed to hospital.

In June last year, a similar incident occurred in the same area in Embakasi as a seven-storey building sunk into its foundation trapping several people in the process.
