NTV on Tuesday threw Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i under the bus after making a gross error in displaying the results of the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

Matiang’i was scathingly attacked after NTV’s graphics of the percentages of boys and girls who sat for the National exams did not tally.
In a screenshot that was widely circulated, NTV indicated that 50.9 percent of candidates who did KCPE were boys while girls stood at 49.8 percent.
Hawk-eyed Kenyans were quick to notice that this was a gross mathematical error as the total adds to 100.7 percent. This promoted a section of the public to sharply criticize the Education minister.
However, Pulselive.co.ke was keen to listen to Mr. Matiang’i and the percentages NTV displayed were not what the CS announced.

In his speech, the CS stated that 50.19 percent of the boys sat for the exams while girls were at 49.81 percent.
