Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was on Sunday involved in a bitter exchange of words with a follower on twitter over the death of Mercy Keino.

Trouble started when the former governor made a comment on the sweetness of a pineapple, when the follower escalated things with a comment on the late Mercy Keino.

The tweep identified as Karuga Gathu replied to Kabogo’s tweet in Kikuyu dialect asking what was sweet between the sexual pleasures he received from Ms. Keino and the sweetness of the pineapple.

“Mùrìo wa mercy keino kana cama Wa mananathi? Hatarì plastic "protection"? Hell nì tùrìe mùrìo tùtekùmaka.. which loosely translates to (The sexual pleasure you received from Mercy Keino or the sweetness of a pineapple? Without a condom. Let’s enjoy pleasure without fear)" said Karuga Gathu.

An angry Kabogo who could not let the matter settle without a response then told Karuga that he needed to visit his grave because that way, his spirit could maybe meet Mercy Keino’s and he would know the truth about her death.

“Karuga you need to visit your grave, you may meet her spirit and learn the truth about her death you idiot,” wrote Kabogo.

Mercy Keino’s murder

The former Kiambu governor was accused alongside five others for the murder of University of Nairobi student Mercy Keino after she attended a party hosted by the governor and was later found killed along Waiyaki way in 2011.

Kabogo was later on in 2016 cleared of wrongdoing in inquest into Keino’s death.

In a ruling by Kehancha Magistrate Peter Ndwiga there was no evidence linking Governor Kabogo to the murder of Mercy Keino on the night of 17th June, 2011.
