Tough blow for Jowie after latest court ruling

Murder suspect Joseph "Jowie" Irungu has suffered yet another blow in court after Justice James Wakiaga once again postponed a decision on his bail application.

Jowie had pleaded, to the point of tears, to be released citing tough conditions he is experiencing at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.

"I have no intent to go anywhere. My second accused (Jacque Maribe) was granted bail and she never absconded court. I deserve the same," the suspected had pleaded with the court.

Justice Wakiaga, however, refused to give his ruling on the bail application on Thursday, postponing the decision to February 13, 2020.

Witness testimonies against Jowie

So far in the murder case hearings, Monica Kimani's brother, an acquaintance of the victim who was at her house on the night she was murdered, a government pathologist and a house help to Ms Maribe have given their testimonies in court.

The court has heard that Jowie claimed to be working for government intelligence as well as claiming to work for State House.

The pathologist also revealed that DNA found on the straps that tied up Monica did not match with Jowie's sample.
