On Thursday, NASA was dealt two major blows after police officers cordoned off the Kamkunji grounds in Shauri Moyo area, Nairobi County, where it was scheduled to hold a public rally.

The Opposition was forced to make last-minute changes after the unforeseen predicament and relocated to Kibra Constituency.

At the same time, police officers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where NASA was planning to have a press conference, blocked journalists and politicians from accessing the area.

Leaders at the JKIA included Siaya Senator James Orengo, Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga, former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, Embakasi East Babu Owino among others.

In a report by the Star officer in charge, Richard Omanga ordered members of the Fourth Estate to go back.

Mr. Omanga claimed that there were no prior arrangements to hold the press briefing.

"We are asking you to leave. We will not allow any media briefing here without prior arrangements," he said.

The Airport was heavily guarded by officers from the General Service Unit

NASA is planning to have a grand reception for the former Prime Minister as he travels back from his US trip.

However, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet barred the event on Wednesday noting that it was a security threat.
