Authorities at Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan about 100 kilometres north-west of Detroit – said that local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies were on the scene.

“The stabbing incident at the airport remains under FBI-led investigation,’’ the airport said in a statement.

The wounded airport police officer was in stable condition.

“The suspect is in custody and is currently being questioned,’’ the airport authority said.

The airport was evacuated and closed after the attack and all passengers were safe, authorities said.
