Raila’s sister in serious trouble after new order
Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has been ordered to pay a businessman a total of Sh 495,820 for damaging his vehicle.
In a ruling made by Kisumu Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu, Ms Odinga was directed to compensate Mr Rickham Muga following the damages incurred on June 1, 2013.
The court heard that on the said date, Mr Muga’s spouse had parked the vehicle near Telcom Building in Kisumu when the Ms Odinga’s driver rammed it.
Margistrate Obutu stated that: “The collision caused extensive damage and material loss to the plaintiff’s motor vehicle”.
He ruled that the County boss should pay Sh351,720 as the cost of the repairs, Sh8,000 and Sh5,900 for towing charges and inspection respectively.
Ms Odinga will also have to cater for police abstract charged at Sh200, storage at Sh10,000 and Sh120,000 for alternative transport.
Mr Obutu noted that the the Deputy Governor’s driver had “negligently, recklessly and carelessly drove motor vehicle… that he caused it to collide with that of Mr Muga… that was lawfully parked along Oginga Odinga Street in Kisumu.”
