According to theGuardian, the incident occurred at about 8pm on Sunday, January 29, while people were observing evening prayers.

Citing the Québec City Islamic cultural center on Sainte-Foy Street, the report said no less than 40 people were in the building at the time of the attack,

It was gathered that the attackers were three in number.

Radio Canada reports that two people have been arrested, and a large security cordon set up around the site.

Quebec police were said to have confirmed the shooting and the arrests made.
