Kimotho has been trending across all social media channels ever since he was pictured enjoying his "snack" of githeri while queueing to vote during Tuesday's elections.

Little did he know the photo went viral making him an overnight celebrity and the most talked about persons after Kenyans made hundreds of memes of his photo eating githeri photo-shopped with other pictures of celebrities, presidents, musicians and many more other people.

On Thursday he was traced back to his home in Kayole and spent the day being interviewed with several media houses.

It was during one of his interviews at Citizen Tv with news anchor Swaleh Mdoe which led to Safaricom rewarding him with goodies worth over Sh200,000.

During the interview, Kimotho revealed that that it was his aunt wo showed him his pictures that had gone viral on Facebook since he did not own a smart phone.

Safaricom took the queue and followed it up, and presented him with two Samsung S8 phones; one for him and another for his wife while also gifting his daughter with a Tecno Camon smart phone as well as airtime all worth over Sh200,000.

Other companies have joined in with Bonfire Adventures presenting the idea of an all paid expenses trip for Kimotho to its followers on Twitter.
