Callum Wilson has suffered a serious knee injury in training

Wilson ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Wednesday and isn't expected back in action for at least six months.

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson will miss the rest of the Premier League season after suffering a serious knee injury in training.

The 24-year-old, who has scored six goals in 21 appearances this term, suffered a similar injury last season.

"We are all devastated for Callum. What's important now is that he receives the support and love of his family and friends, team-mates and everyone associated with Bournemouth," Cherries boss Eddie Howe said on Thursday.

"Callum showed incredible character and determination to come back from a similar setback last season and we know he has the same strength and will to do the same again."

Bournemouth are 14th in the Premier League after losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
