Several social media reports say Emmanuel Yartey, a former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak player, is now mentally challenged.

The sad news of one of the talented players the Ghana Premier League witnessed in the 1990's has gone viral on social media.

And Pulse Sports can now confirm that Emmanuel Yartey has been mentally ill for sometime, but the cause of the sickness is not known yet.

Yartey has had stints with Okwawu United, Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

In 1998, he made the headlines while playing for Kotoko when he scored as they drew one all against Hearts of Oak in Accra. Joe Ansah drew level for Hearts of Oak in that clash.
