The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has revealed when they will announce the final presidential results tally.

IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba said that they will release the presidential results within four days after the voting day.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen’s JKLive, Chiloba said the release of the presidential results will depend on the efficiency of counting of the votes and the network availability on the day.

"The law gives the commission seven days to release the results, but we want to announce it earlier. Our target is not more than four days.

"We are trying to be pragmatic and realistic. We do not want to make mistakes and there are other factors beyond our control including network challenges on transmission," Chiloba added.

According to the IEBC, the declaration of the presidential results will be based on the verification that the constitutional threshold has been obtained by the winning candidate.

The commission will also display the results as received from polling stations in all the tallying centres, which will also be available on a web portal.
