Win for Maribe after DPP's latest decision

The Director of Public Prosecutions Office on Wednesday gave Citizen TV Anchor Jacque Maribe her car back, after they stated that investigations into the Monica Kimani murder case had been completed.

The prosecution remarked that they would instead use photos of the car as evidence during the hearing of the case.

The legal team had in December 2018 pointed out that the car would be used as exhibit in the case once the analysis on it were completed.

The team probing the murder case had further noted that Maribe had regained full admission to her house in Lang’ata Nairobi, which had been considered as a crime scene when the investigations were still being conducted.

The court stated that the case is set to be heard on May 7.

Maribe's application denied by DPP's office

The move by the prosecutor office comes two weeks after the embattled journalist had presented a request to have the vehicle back.

Her application had however been denied as the state maintained that the car was part of the exhibit and evidence in the brutal murder of the Kilimani businesswoman.

Investigating officer Maxwell Otieno had stated that the vehicle together with Maribe’s mobile phone would be relied upon during the case.
