Court makes ruling on Linturi's bank accounts

The High Court on Wednesday barred Meru Senator Mithika Linturi from accessing money kept in his several accounts.

Judge John Onyiego ordered that Linturi should not touch money stored in accounts at Equity, Family, Standard Chartered and Cooperative Banks.

The judge further ruled that the Meru Senator should not damage or interfere with vehicles used by his wife Maryanne Keitany.

This comes a day after a court ruled to deny the Senator from accessing his Runda residence in Nairobi.

The ruling made by the court reinstated the orders after a successful petition by the estranged wife.

Linturi through his lawyer Muthomi Thiankolu had appealed against the ruling made by senior resident magistrate Isaac Orenge that gave Keitanyi access to the residence to collect her belongings.

Keitany files for divorce

In October 2018, the court had barred the Senator from even being close to the house after his wife had obtained the orders.

Keitany who is a former chief of staff in Deputy President William Ruto’s office, formally filed for a divorce last year after a quarrel with the husband.

The former official had made a formal complaint to the police in November after she claimed that the husband had threatened to shoot her dead after the domestic quarrel.
