In a statement to the Aga Khan-owned TV station, CoG dismissed any associations with Eng Charles Kalomba who was on the show as Lead Advisor to CoG and Secretary General Juakali Sector.

The Council stated that it neither had such a position nor engaged Kalomba on a contract basis for the role.

“We, therefore, distance ourselves from everything said b Eng. Kalomba during the show,” the press statement reads.

AM Live hosted Eng Kalomba among other guests to debate the controversial 8-percent VAT on petroleum.

Members of Parliament are set to vote on the Finance Bill later on in the day. If the lawmakers vote for the Bill the cost of living in the country is speculated to rise drastically.
