CJ Maraga was involved in a road accident in Nakuru.

The government moved in swiftly after Chief Justice David Maraga was involved in a road accident on Saturday morning.

According to a State House official, a directive has been issued for the CJ to be airlifted to Nairobi for comprehensive medical attention.

The CJ was in the company of his wife Yucabeth Nyaboke and were heading to church when the accident occurred in Nakuru.

Regional Traffic Commandant Ziro Arome confirmed that the CJ and his wife are in stable condition and had been rushed to War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru.

Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Mongo Chimwaga divulged that Maraga had sustained head injuries.

"The CJ and his wife were heading to church in Ngata area, when their vehicle was hit by a personal car. They are in a stable condition, " he said.

He added that his wife was in shock following the crash but the two are in stable condition with doctors closely monitoring the situation.

His driver and his aide who were in the vehicle at the time of the crash are also reported to have sustained minor injuries.

The CJ has been in Nakuru from Friday where he also visited one of his bodyguards undergoing treatment at the War Memorial Hospital.

Police have launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident.
