Families of eight Moi Girls School students who were burnt dead during the inferno were on Tuesday dealt a major blow following a report issued at Chiromo Mortuary.
The parents were informed that they will have to wait for two weeks to a month for the DNA test results.
Divulging the information, National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU) Deputy Director Pius Masai mentioned that the DNA samples will be extracted from parents and siblings.
"All the families have been allowed to view the nine bodies and none was able to physically identify their loved ones. The DNA samples have been taken from close relatives for scientific analysis to help identify the bodies. One body has been claimed by two families but that will be solved by DNA results,” he Masai said.
The process was started since the girls killed in the horrific fire were burnt beyond recognition.
A team of experts led by Government pathologist Johansen Odour have set up work stations at the morgue for the process.
NDMU boss added that to avoid confusion, a new technique will be used in sampling the DNA
Mr. Masai further cautioned the agonized families against giving money to fraudsters claiming they have information of their children.
On Monday Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i disclosed that the fire was not an accident but an arson attack.
