The hearing of the case on the application for bond will be on March 27 with the four remanded in custody without bond.

Promising career

Wekesa was part of the Under 19 team that represented Kenya in 2012 and is the third Kenyan player to pass on after the deaths of Mwamba’s Victor Wayodi and Nondescripts’ Ogeto Gacheo in 2016.

Wekesa was laid to rest on Saturday, January 28, at his rural home in Lugari, Kakamega County.

Last Sunday, the Kenya Cup clubs joined Homeboyz in a memorial touch rugby tournament at the Jamuhuri showground, which also featured as a fund-raiser for the fallen player.

Club chairman Mike Rabar, Kenya Rugby Union director Oscar Mango and Mwamba RFC chairman George Mbaye paid their tributes at the event.

The Kenya Cup tie between Homeboyz and Blak Blad has been postponed to a later date as the Kenyan rugby fraternity prepares to pay its last respects to the player.
