Evelyne Makuto is taking up the captain role from Loice Jepkosgei. Kenya Prisons believes in rotating players to take leadership roles that’s probably while the changes were made.

The performance sheet for Evelyne Makuto has always been appealing as she won the best player award in the 2015 African Nations Cup Championship after helping Malkia Strikers retain the continental title in Nairobi.

The annual continental showpiece is being held in two separate cities and months.

Currently Tunis is hosting the men's category with Kenya Prisons being eliminated on 23 March at the quarter finals stage.

The women's competition will be hosted in April in Kelibia city with CAVB yet to announce specific dates for the tournaments.

Seeking their 12th African title, the Egyptian giants Ahly were too strong for the Kenyan side that won by three straight sets of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-19.

Al Ahly of Egypt will now face Algeria who beat Cameroon in the quarter finals.

Prisons qualified for the quarter finals after finishing second in Group D with two wins against Police from Benin and Congo's Espoir and one loss against group leaders Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia.
