5 family members killed in attack

Five members of one family were killed in an arson attack after claims of witchcraft emerged.

The incident which happened in Rongo, Siaya Couty left four nursing injuries in hospital.

Incidents of members of the public torching people especially the elderly over witchcraft claims.

Vicious attacks

Police have recorded various attacks and murder in Kwale where elderly people are targeted and brutally executed on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.

Authorities have linked witchcraft accusations to wrangles within families fueled by land and property inheritance.

Msambweni Deputy County Commissioner Ronald Enyakasi, said there are many instances in which the elderly are accused of witchcraft in an attempt by the youngsters to inherit property and land.
