Pulse Live Kenya has learnt that the Mr Chiloba will not be engaged in the active role during the repeat polls as was the case in the August 8 polls.

Speaking on the sidelines of the four-day training which is undergoing at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said that “the current secretariat led by Chief Executive Officer Mr Ezra Chiloba will not play active role.”

“The secretariat will not play an active role. But that should not mean that they are culpable of anything. They are still important to the commission going forward,” Mr Chebukati divulged.

Mr Chiloba’s new role will be quality assurance and facilitation. The project team was a follow up to the truce among Commissioners during the Naivasha retreat.

The CEO was tasked to develop an implementation framework of the fresh presidential election. The new team was approved by the Commission after the Chairman and the CEO agreed on the names.

The team has reportedly been in operation since early September. The new changes comes even as the Raila Odinga led National Super Alliance (Nasa) demanded that the CEO should leave office.
