Two people died on Monday after a tanker ferrying sulfuric acid exploded along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.

The two, who were identified as the driver and his turnboy, lost their lives in the evening incident that occurred at Kaburengo.

Fred Majiwa who works with St. John’s Ambulance, stated that the inhabitants of the vehicle were burnt beyond recognition.

Cause of the accident is yet to be revealed as motorists have been warned to take caution while using the road.

Eldoret-Eldama Ravine blackspot

In another case, seven people died on the spot after a 14-seater matatu rolled near HZ along the Eldoret-Eldama Ravine road.

Three other people who include two sub-chiefs, died when they were being rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for treatment.

Reports had indicated that the vehicle hit a guard rail and then rolled several times.

Residents of the area requested the NTSA to put up road signs to notify drivers that the place was a blackspot.
