Why Isn't Princess Diana A Bigger Part Of 'The Crown' Season 3?
Netflix has found huge success in The Crown, its hit TV show based on Queen Elizabeth II and the British royal family. After two seasons, fans have been anxiously awaiting the drop of the third season, which, btw, will happen on November 17(!). And now, they're getting a peak at what to expect in the show's first official trailer.
But one big detail that appears to be missing from the new season? Princess Diana. While the trailer hints at a plotline surrounding young Prince Charles' romantic life and Emma Corrin has been tapped to play Diana, a.k.a. the People's Princess, she's nowhere to be seen in the preview. That said, Emma has been spotted filming . So, will she appear in this season's show or what?
Well, according to The Times , season three of The Crown will take place between roughly 1964 and 1977.
The Telegraph reports that Diana first met her future husband Prince Charles in November 1977. So, it's likely that Princess Di won't make an appearance until toward the end of the season.
Still, the trailer itself left no answers on whether or not Princess Diana will actually make her Netflix debut anytime soon. A blonde woman lounging in a bathtub does appear in one scene, but it's unclear if that's Princess Diana or Camilla Parker-Bowles (previously named Camilla Shand), who Prince Charles later married in 2005.
FYI: Actress Emerald Fennell will be playing Camilla Parker-Bowles. From the looks of The Crown's trailer, it's Emerald, not Emma, who plays the woman in the bathtub, a.k.a. Camilla. (Peep the scene at 1:33 and judge for yourself.)
While fans may be curious about Diana's whereabouts, Harper's Bazaar UK reports that the third season will actually focus on the love triangle between Princess Anne (Prince Charles' sister), Andrew Parker-Bowles, and Camilla. Quick history lesson: Princess Anne had an affair with Andrew Parker-Bowles, who was dating Camilla at the time (and who was also being pursued by Prince Charles).
Well, one thing's for sure: this season is gonna be juicy.
