Reports reaching indicate that Wajir County Secretary Ahmed Sahal was arrested for the embezzlement of Sh26.1 million.

He was arrested alongside Wajir Governor’s Economic Advisor.

The detectives also summoned the County’s Finance Executive Omar Daud and a KCB Bank manager.

Sahal who is accused of, over-recruiting staff at the county offices in the months of May, June and July this year was taken to Wajir Station as he waits to be transferred to Nairobi.

Wajir Governor's home raided

The County Secretary's arrest comes a few days after Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission raided two homes belonging to Wajir Governor Mohamed Muhamud Abdi.

The raid saw the detectives seize documents and materials to aid in investigating allegations that the governor embezzled millions of public funds at the county government.

Reports indicate that among the items seized are financial documents, company ownership documents, county consultancy documents and property ownership documents.
