Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday insinuated that he had failed to beat the deadline on the Sh1,000 note.

Murkomen posted a tweet which seemed to indicate that he had failed to reach the bank before close of business.

"I am just leaving Komarock now. Will I really make it? Must it be exactly 4pm? Someone please call CBK [Central Bank of Kenya] for me," he tweeted.

Witty comments

Senator Murkomen's tweet received a number of reactions with many matching up his apparent joke.

@NixonSeward replied: "Give me the money I bank (I) am at CBK now."

Another remarked: "Tuma ingine mpesa nikufikishie (send the money to me through M-Pesa, I'll deposit it for you)."
