Rob Gronkowski only just retired from the NFL back in March, but he's already been flirting with the idea of a comeback . On Tuesday, though, he revealed to CBS News why that would probably be a pretty bad idea.

When Gronkowski was asked if he'd allow his future son to play football, he said he would, but that he would "educate him" on the game and the injuries he experienced. He then shared his belief that "any injury is fixable." Gronk then admitted he "probably had, like, 20 concussions" in his life, and that he remembered "five blackout ones."

During his CBD partnership announcement , Gronkowski said, "football was bringing me down," and re-iterated that thanks to using CBD products, he was pain-free for the first time in a decade. Gronk shared that his injuries included internal bleeding in the aftermath of the Patriots' Super Bowl victory earlier this year.

Clearly, if Gronkowski has suffered "like, 20 concussions," there's no world in which he should be entertaining the idea of a comeback, and NFL fans should actively hope he remains retired. The link between repeated hits to the head and CTE is already well-documented . One of the main reasons Gronkowski became such a beloved NFL figure was his larger-than-life, fun-loving personality. Playing through all of that head trauma figures to put what fans love most about Gronk at risk.

We should also note that saying "any injury is fixable" and claiming "I'm fixed" after suffering double-digit concussions is irresponsible. While Gronk's clearly doing his best sales pitch for CBD, it's important to note that there isn't much reputable to science to back up the claims that these unregulated products are curing chronic pain or making longstanding injury issues go away. There's no quick fix for arthritic knees , and CTE is currently untreatable .

As tempting as it might be for Gronk to return to the fieldthe Patriots sure looked good in their Week 1 massacre of the Steelershe needs to put the idea of suiting back up and playing in the NFL to rest.

Gronk, take solace in the fact that your decade-long, football-induced pain is finally beginning to subside, and stick to your cushy new CBD gig. And, you know, keep ripping your shirt off .
