The Tanzanian Government through it's Music Regulatory Board popularly known as BASATA has lifted a ban imposed on Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny after defying it's orders in December last year.

In a statement issued to media house, BASATA mentioned that they had lifted the ban following a public apology that Diamond and Rayvanny issued on December 21, 2018.

The two had been restricted from doing shows in Tanzania indefinitely after they performed their banned song “Mwanza” at Wasafi Festival in Mwanza.

“Baraza La Sanaa La Taifa (BASATA) linapenda kutoa taarifa kuwa leo tarehe 22/01/2019 limewafungulia wasanii Daimond Platnumz na Rayvanny, baada ya kufungiwa kutojihusisha na shighli za Sanna kwa kipendi kisichijulikana kutokana na sababau za kimaadili, Baraza limelifungulia Tamasha la Wasafi kuanzia leo tarehe 22/o1/2019.

Baraza limefikia maamuzi hayo baaada ya kupokea maombo kadhaa ya kukiri kosa na kuomba msamaha kutoka kwa wasanii tajwa na kampuni ya Wasafi Company Limited (WCB). Baraza litaendelea kufiuatia kwa karibu utendaji kazi wa wasanii hawa na kampuni ya Wasafi Compony Limited ili kuyhakikisha wanazingatia maadili , sharia kanuni na miongozo ya kazi za Sanaa chini,” reads part of the statement.

Despite lifting the ban, Rayvanny’s song "Mwanza" will remain banned as it's not supposed to be played on TV or any Radio station as it doesn’t hold the required moral threshold for public consumption.

On December 21st 2018, Diamond and Rayvanny issued a public apology, to BASATA for disrespecting its orders.
