Autopsy reveals what killed Strathmore university lecturer's wife

The husband, Dr Fredrick Ogola, was arrested in connection with the murder.

A postmortem on the late Rebecca Gobi Mwachongo, wife of Strathmore university lecturer Dr Fredrick Ogola, has revealed that she had no physical injuries inflicted on her.

According to the autopsy conducted by Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor, Rebecca died from lung-related complications.

Mr Oduor divulged that she had fluid in her lungs and clot in the left atrium.“She had a blood clot in the left atrium (in the heart) ... but we cannot attribute this to anything at the moment,” Dr. Oduor stated.

Murder suspect

The husband was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of killing the wife, allegations he vehemently denied.Mr Ogola, who is still detained at Kabete police station after police requested 10 days to complete investigations, said that they were playing with the deceased when she suddenly fell back on the edge of the bed.

“I thought this was a joke because we had been playing," the university don mentioned during an interview.The autopsy report could now back Mr Ogola's claims that he did not murder the wife and rule out any foul play in her death.
