The crime buster was ambushed at Tharaini bar where he was chewing miraa inside his car at 4 am, Friday.

Head of Special Crime, Noah Katumo said the officer was pulled out of the bar, strangled and slashed with a panga.

He was not armed during the incident as he was off duty, Katumo said.

A watchman at the bar and another man also sustained deep panga cuts and are admitted to the hospital.

Specialised crime Prevention Unit is a unit of the DCI which deals with hardcore crimes.
