Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has sparked discussions after he shared a hotel room with two of the members of his County Executive Council.
The governor ditched what is the custom of top bosses to hire out executive rooms to sleep in a low-cost shared room.
Governor Lenku and his ministers are said to have been in Loitoktok since Monday for a series of consultative meetings.
Sources say that the county bosses opted to share a room as a way of limiting the county administration's expenditure.
According to the county's policies, a CEC is allocated a Sh10,000 daily allowance when away on official duties, with the move by the three, the county is said to have footed Sh2,500 a day for accommodation.
A photo of the three "roommates" was circulated online sparking discussions over whether or not the move was well calculated.
Ali AwDoll remarked: "I have a feeling, this wasn't done to save the taxpayer some money, rather there aren't high end hotels with executive rooms in Loitoktok town."
Nathan Robe added: "Lenku knows this is a PR lie ... remember the Mattresses that were burning at #WestgateAttack?"
