Although the Education CS had forewarned all students that incidents of indiscipline will be included as criminal records in their certificates, this group of boys seemed to have no care in the world.

Video Circulated

The KCSE candidates were captured in a video hurling unprintable insults at Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i and his Education counterpart Amina Mohamed.

The students, who had just completed their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination went on a rampage, hurling the unprintable words to the two CSs while celebrating finishing their exams.

In the video, the High School students, who did not conceal their faces, even alleged that they stole the exam, despite it being illegal, however, they did not provide any evidence to their claims.

The students were seen near a fire where books had been set ablaze and the shouting was happening as one after the other came in front of the camera to insult the two CSs.

Phone Inside School Compound

What was even more shocking was how they got a phone inside a school compound and whose phone it was since the Education Ministry had outlawed students having access to mobile phones during the exam period.

Dr Matiang’i, whose docket played an integral role in ensuring that candidates did not cheat in the exams, is a former Education CS responsible for far-reaching reforms in the ministry.

There are reports that detectives have been dispatched to the school to probe the incident.

The school hit the headlines in July 2018 when a fire razed a dormitory leaving students without places to sleep. At least 130 learners lost all their property.
