Deputy Governor arrested in Eldoret

Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Wesley Kipyegon Rotich was on Thursday arrested over fraud-related allegations.

Th DG is said to have issued a bank cheque to a merchant which later bounced, forfeiting a payment he was required to make.

Mr Kipyegon was arrested in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county after the said merchant recorded a statement with the police.

The businessman had supplied vehicle tires to the DG and reported having been given the bounced cheque when he insisted on payment for the delivered goods.

The DG has been accused of obtaining money under false pretenses and is scheduled to be arraigned in court over the charges.
