Speaking on Thursday, Ranguma unveiled his new running mate trade unionist Ephraim Kananga while exuding confidence that he would retain hi seat.

The Governor, who was bundled out of ODM nominations by Professor Anyang Nyong'o to clinch the Kisumu gubernatorial ticket, opted to run as an independent candidate.

"I never dropped my deputy, she dropped herself and that is why I have replaced her with this youthful teacher,” Mr Ranguma stated.He maintained that he would support NASA presidential candidate Odinga despite the latter urging supporters to vote for ODM, Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya candidates during the August 8 election.

“I am ready to campaign alongside ODM candidates because I support Nasa presidential candidate Mr Raila Odinga,” Mr Ranguma said.

The Kisumu governor and his deputy Ruth had a strained relationship and the latter has now announced that he will focus on campaigning for his brother.
