Chaos breaks out in Kisumu, police lob teargas at rowdy crowds [Photos]

Protests rocked Kisumu County on Wednesday morning as the county's assembly speaker Onyango Oloo attempted to gain access of the chambers.

Oloo and his supporters camped outside the county assembly buildings after Members of County Assembly denied the speaker access.

Anti-riot police were called in after Oloo and his supporters became rowdy. The police were forced to fire teargas canisters to disperse the crowds.

Sh4.1 billion graft claims

Oloo is in court on charges of Sh4.1 billion misappropriation of funds that were allocated for the Kisumu Lake Basin Mall.

He was serving as the Chair of Lake Basin Development Authority at the time when the funds went missing.
