Aussems blames indecisiveness in attack for Leopards’ draw with FC Talanta
AFC Leopards’ Belgian head coach, Patrick Aussems has slammed his side's lack of decisiveness in the final third for his side's 0-0 draw against Ken Kenyatta’s FC Talanta during their league encounter that took place at the Nyayo National Stadium yesterday.
AFC Leopards’ only real opportunities to score came from a set-piece routine played early in the second half. Jaffary Owti got on the end of a Musa Oundo free kick which was parried away by keeper James Ashioma, before Boniface Mukhekhe blasted the rebound over the bar.
“We try to play modern football by creating chances through passing and stuff like that. At the moment, we are lacking precision in the final 20-30 meters of the pitch. We have to improve on that.”
Aussems further says his squad’s decimations through injuries have weakened his side's inabiity to get wins.
Leopards had to play the game without the services of key players, including keeper Levis Opiyo to suspension and defenders Kayici Odhiambo, Collins Shivachi and Tedian Esilaba to injuries.
“Almost 50 percent of the team is renewed regarding injuries and suspensions,” he said,” the good thing is that we kept a clean sheet, but the final score remains 0-0,” he added.
AFC Leopards will face Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega this weekend.
