Fifteen police officers were injured after their vehicle was involved in an accident as they travelled to Nairobi from Mandera County.

Police reports indicated that the Sunday accident was as a result of a tyre bust that caused the vehicle to roll severally.

The driver and some of the officers suffered head injuries and fractured hands.

Lafey OCPD Antony Nderitu explained that all the officers were from Lafey Police Station and were travelling to the capital city for different reasons.

“I am aware of the accident involving our officers who were headed to Nairobi for different reasons including work,” stated Nderitu.

The injured were rushed to Sololo Mission Hospital for treatment while the wreckage was towed to Sololo police station.

Officers escorting G4S vehicle

Last Friday, two officers died on the spot after a bus collided with a G4S lorry at Naromoru area in Nyeri County.

The two were among the four people who lost their lives in the Thursday accident between a Moyale Linear bus and the lorry ferrying the officers.

The law enforcers were escorting the courier service vehicle from Meru.
