In an interview with CNN, President Uhuru said that he had no ties to the marketing research firm and that he was not aware of any engagements with Cambridge Analytica.

He added that he only heard of the firm in the news and that most of the speeches he made during campaigns were informal.

“I hear it on your news media. You need to just look at the speeches that we were making across the country and tell me what speech has been written by them, 99 percent of all the speeches I made during that period were off the cuff and I addressed over 700 political rallies,” he said.

President Uhuru’s sentiments however conflicted with that of the Jubilee Party vice Chairman David Murathe who admitted that Cambridge Analytica was tasked with writing speeches and branding of Jubilee Presidential campaigns during the 2013 and 2017 General elections.

Cambridge Analytica Chief Executive Alexander Nix and other senior officials were exposed in a secretly recorded video admitting to interference with over 200 elections around the world including the 2013 and 2017 General elections in Kenya.
