A police officer based at Ruiru General Service Unit (GSU) attached to the Presidential Escort was arrested on Saturday for allegedly stealing and trying to sell a colleagues pistol.

The suspect was nabbed while selling the Jericho pistol with 15 bullets to a suspected broker based in Kawangware area.
The Presidential escort officer is reported to have obtained the weapon and ammunition from their gunroom at the Ruiru camp.
The rogue officer will be arraigned in court on November 6, 2017, where he will be charged for stealing.
The officer is believed to have been part of a racket lending firearms to criminals at a cost and was nabbed while on a mission.

Police acting on a tip off swiftly swung into action and managed to arrest their colleague before they traced the broker in Kawangware and recovered the weapon.
Police say they are investigating to find out whether more officers are involved in the racket.
