Gor Mahia hitman Omala available for crunch clash against Ulinzi Stars
Gor Mahia hitman Benson Omala is in contention to play against Ulinzi Stars in their Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League clash on Friday.
Omala was a huge doubt after he limped out of the field in the final moments of the game against Wazito FC on Tuesday.
Gor Mahia coach Jonathan McKinstry has since revealed that Omala and all the players appear fit ahead of the clash set to be played at Ulinzi Sports Complex.
"We have managed the team really well. The medical team has been excellent; we have not had any injuries this season. This is because of how we train and look the players off the field," the gaffer said.
"Omala got a slight knock, and he wanted to go back into the game, but he had already got a hat-trick, which is why I did not allow him to stay in."
Meanwhile, McKinstry openly said that they will have to be cautious in their approach against Ulinzi Stars.
"We played Ulinzi Stars right at the end of pre-season at the new complex. It is a fantastic good pitch," the coach added.
"Ulinzi is a team from an army background, and they will run for 95 minutes as they are physical. They have some good players, and their coach has done a good job on them."
Gor Mahia kept on track to win the title with a 4-0 victory at home to Wazito FC on February 14, with Omala grabbing a hat-trick.
The 19-time league champions are sitting at the top of the league table with 33 points from 14 matches played this season.
However, K'Ogalo must dig deep and edge Ulinzi Stars, who have lost just two of the seven matches they have played at the Ulinzi Stars Complex.
The Soldiers are placed seventh on the table with 24 points from 15 matches played this season.
