Valentines seems oddly designed to make couples go momentarily bust.
As a celebration of love in the middle of the month so soon after Christmas and End of Year/ Back to School season- it's unsurprising to find couples financially unstable.
Unlike a wedding or an anniversary dinner, Valentine's doesn't seem like the type of event to warrant savings.
More so because there are options for the kind of couple who are too frugal for a decadent dinner or unable to afford it.
1. Create a budget
Have a budget and a strict adherence to it will be very helpful in planning what to surprise your partner with.
2. Try things at home
All the plans couples have for a night out can be recreated at home. Plan a three course candle-lit dinner for your wife or husband. Have nice music playing in the background.
3. Be thoughtful instead
Rather than an expensive watch or piece of jewelry, give your partner a spa treatment. Give a full body massage after a day of work.
4. Look for budget friendly offers
As it is the season for couples, there will be restaurants and destinations offering events and meals that give amenities at a discount for every couple.
